Suva, Fiji — The Scientology Volunteer Ministers South Pacific Goodwill Tour was warmly welcomed to the capital of Fiji by traditional Fijian dancers and more than 200 dignitaries including the Deputy Mayor, the Deputy Director for Immigration, the Minister of Youth & Sports and the Police Commissioner.
The Deputy Mayor demonstrated his enthusiasm for the Scientology Goodwill Tour when he pronounced, "The Volunteer Ministers could not have come at a better time. We are focused on improving education and the Volunteer Ministers offer a study program teaching a technology of how to study. Drugs are a growing problem here and the Volunteer Ministers have answers to helping people come off drugs. This group has the message which says: No matter how big the problem may seem, something CAN be done about it."
The second speaker at the event was the Minister of Youth & Sports, he spoke of his intention to take advantage of the Scientology Disaster Response Training and looked forward to the Volunteer Ministers to help him tackle Fiji's social ills.
And as the celebration ended, the work of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers has just started. Their large bright yellow tent, in the United Nations Park, was filled to capacity throughout the day with visitors. Nurses were trained on Scientology Assists, hundreds of people were toured through the tent and lectures were given based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard as contained in the Scientology Handbook.
Fiji is the 2nd stop on the South Pacific Goodwill Tour, which was officially launched on the 15th of July with its Grand Opening in Auckland, New Zealand, which was attended by dignitaries from the Maori and South Pacific Communities.

Assists are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment.
